Throwback Thursday: Irene – New York City Vintage Fashion Shoot

Believe it or not, of the hundreds of photoshoots I’ve done, this one was my favorite one ever. I can say that now because this shoot took place over 3 years ago in the early days of my photography career. I’ve worked with hundreds of models, actors and creatives and I’ve seen plenty come and go. This girl was one for the books.

On this day, December 1st, 2012, everything just came together. The model, the makeup artist, the clothing, the location….me. It was a chilly 40 degrees in Manhattan, but you’d never know it because Irene was channeling a warm summer day. I was still new to photography but I still managed to pull off a few great photos, thanks to a lovely model and a fantastic location. I actually had 4 photoshoots this day, but this was my favorite one then and it’s my favorite one now.

There’s not much more to say…just enjoy the pretty pictures, folks.

New York City Street Photography: A Retrospective – Part 1

I lived in New York City for 5 years and in that time I picked up photography. I wasn’t really sure why I moved to NYC when I did, I just felt it was the right thing to do. I had just finished art school and New York just seemed like the right place to be for a young artist. Well, I ended up working at two different camera shops and because I wanted to be good at my job I eventually picked up a camera.

Location: Various  (Williamsburg, Coney Island, Brooklyn, Union Square, Times Square, Manhattan)
Camera: Nikon D100
Lenses: Nikkor 50mm f/1.8D
(This was all the gear I had for my first year of photography and I only processed my images in black and white. I felt I wasn’t yet ready for color. This was a throwback to my art school days where we forced to start out in black and white and couldn’t move on to color until year 2.)
