Amanda & Ryan – Austin, TX Elopement Wedding

I had the fortunate chance to photograph a lovely, intimate wedding ceremony in Austin, TX a few months back. There were only seven of us in attendance, including myself, the preacher, and the lovely couple and their family/friends. It was a gorgeous Texas day, clear blue skies and a comfortable 76 degrees. You couldn’t have asked for better wedding conditions.

Hailing from Dallas, TX, the bride and groom had escaped for the weekend to elope in Austin. Just far enough for their family members not to track them down and possibly ruin the ceremony. “They’ve lost their privilege”, the bride explained to me. Apparently there had been much drama over the years. This wasn’t going to be a large affair, it was strictly family and friends.

This was a solid union though. The bride, a teacher. The groom, a restauranteur. They’d been dating for years and years, since their youth. The ceremony was over just as quickly as it had began and before I knew it this small group was enjoying a delicious Italian dinner together and discussing the finer points of marriage. It was simple, it was lovely, it was authentic.

Austin, they say, is a weird little town, but on occasion it’s more than just weird. On this occasion, it was downright beautiful.
